Alceste De Ambris born in 1874 in Lunigiana. He was a trade-unionist, politician and journalist known for his original personality and often unconventional point of view. He became a Member of Parliament, among the ranks of interventionists disappointed by the “betrayal” of fascism. Opposing fascism, and being a vocal opponent of the Partito Nazionale Fascista and the Mussolini dictatorship, he was exiled to France, where he became one of the protagonists of the democratic anti-fascist movement. He died in France in 1934. after having been president of the Ligue Italienne des Droits de l’Homme for many years.
